Dayton Claudio received a B.A. degree in art from the University of California Santa Barbara where he studied with James Turell and John McCracken. He received an MFA degree in fine art from San Jose State University. He has enjoyed a successful career in public art since 1995 completing many projects around the country. His work is an investigation into the processes of nature. Using clay as a mold, he captures then casts highly detailed textured composites infused with painterly imagery.
